Before my appointment
Onboarding forms, questionnaires and preparation.
Once your booking is confirmed, your welcome pack and onboarding questionnaires arrive by email. Everything can be completed online, at your own pace, and it all needs to be with us before your appointment wherever possible, because the assessment is built on it.
What you are asked to complete depends on the assessment. Adults complete history questionnaires and rating scales, plus one for someone who knows you well, such as a partner, parent or close friend. For a child's assessment there are parent questionnaires and a pack for the school, so allow time for the school to return it. For an autism assessment we also ask for an informant who knew you, or your child, in early childhood.
You receive an email confirmation for every form you complete, so you can keep track of what is done. Please make sure every form is completed at least 48 hours before your appointment. If anything is delayed, it can still be added after the appointment, although your outcome and report may then take longer.
If an email hasn't arrived
Check your spam or junk folder first and search for neurofx. If it is still missing, or a link will not open, email info@neurofx.co.uk with the subject Missing questionnaire, your name and your appointment date, and we will send it again.
My appointment
Booking confirmations, changes and directions.
Your booking email confirms the date, time and format of your appointment. Keep it: it is the quickest way to check the details.
In-person appointments are at our Bedford clinic. Directions, parking and access, with a short video of the route to the door, are on our arriving page.
Video appointments use a secure link that we email to you before the appointment. Find a quiet, private space and check your camera and microphone.
Changing or cancelling
With more than 72 hours' notice, rescheduling is free and a cancellation is refunded in full. With less notice the appointment is treated as used, so it is not refundable, and rescheduling is at our discretion. Medication package appointments have their own notice period, set out in our terms.
To change an appointment, email info@neurofx.co.uk with the subject Appointment change, giving your name, the current date and what you need. You can also call us, but email is the surest route: our reception team can take a message, but cannot always change a booking themselves.
If you are running late, call us rather than rushing. We will tell you whether the appointment can still go ahead in full.
Awaiting my report
Timescales, delivery and next steps.
After an ADHD assessment, we write to you with the diagnostic outcome within 48 hours of clinical review, and the full written report follows within 14 days. Both timescales run from the point at which the clinic has received all the required information, including any outstanding questionnaires. After an autism assessment, the outcome is confirmed in writing and the full report follows in the same way.
The outcome letter tells you the conclusion. The report sets out the evidence behind it, our recommendations and anything your GP, employer or school may need, and it is the document to share.
An assessment does not automatically lead to a diagnosis. The fee is for a careful assessment, not for a particular answer, and a clear no can be as useful as a yes, because it points to what else might explain the difficulties.
When the report arrives
Read it in your own time. If you would like to talk it through, we can arrange a call to walk through the report and what happens next.
If your report has not arrived within 14 days of the clinic receiving everything it needs, check your spam folder, then email info@neurofx.co.uk with the subject Report query and your assessment date.
Medication and prescriptions
Repeat requests, titration and reviews.
There are two different situations here, so read the one that applies to you.
If you are in titration
Titration is the period where your prescriber starts medication and adjusts the dose while monitoring benefit and side effects, with reviews every 3 to 4 weeks. Dose changes happen at those reviews. A new prescription or a dose change is never automatic, because your prescriber needs to see how you are doing first.
Prescriptions are sent by Royal Mail, signature required, to your ID-verified address.
Book your reviews through the booking menu on our appointments page, and read our titration leaflet for what to expect, including the side effects that need urgent advice.
If you are stable on medication
Request each repeat prescription through the booking menu on our appointments page, choosing the repeat prescription request for existing patients. Repeat requests are processed in our weekly prescription clinic. Please allow 7 days from your request for your prescription to be dispatched, and request your next one before you run low.
Stable patients also have periodic medication reviews, booked the same way. If a review is overdue, we may need to complete it before the next prescription can be issued.
Questions, shared care and travel
For a medication question that is not urgent, email info@neurofx.co.uk with the subject Medication question. Anything urgent, including side effects or running out, is covered in the urgent help section above.
For independent, evidence-based information about ADHD medicines, including leaflets you can print, use our page on Choice and Medication. It is there for NeuroFX patients and the people who care for them.
If your GP agrees to shared care, repeat prescribing moves to them. That decision is at your GP's sole discretion, and we cannot guarantee any GP will accept it. Our medication page and the shared care explainer cover how it works.
Travelling with your medication? Our travel leaflet explains what to carry and how to plan. If you need a travel letter, ask us in good time before you go.
Questions after diagnosis
Understanding your report and ongoing support.
Your report explains what the diagnosis means and what we recommend. The questions we are asked most afterwards are about treatment and shared care.
- Treatment. Medication is one option, and not the only one. Our medication page explains the titration package, and the guides cover treatment and support more widely.
- Shared care. Whether your GP takes over prescribing on the NHS is at your GP's sole discretion. Speak to your GP early, and read the shared care explainer before you ask.
For everything else, the after-diagnosis section of our FAQs is the place to start, and the guides go deeper: getting your results and living well after diagnosis for adults, and supporting your child after diagnosis for parents. The first 30 days after diagnosis is a good short read.
Contact the clinic
How to send a question or request.
For anything that is not urgent, email info@neurofx.co.uk. Include your name, your appointment date if you have one, and a short description of what you need, so the right person can pick it up straight away. We reply within one working day.
Please don't put detailed medical information in an email or a contact form. Say what you need, and if we require anything more we will ask for it in a secure way.
You can also call 0333 533 3303, Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:30. Our reception team can take a message, send you a link to the right page and tell you who will come back to you. They cannot give clinical advice.
