Hello, I'm Tina. I'm the lead clinician at NeuroFX. At our CQC-registered clinic, we offer specialist autism and ADHD assessments for children aged six and over and adults.
So after booking an assessment with us online or in person, you'll then be invited to take part in the onboarding process, and that is for you to be able to tell your story. It will include physical and mental health history, and then after that, you'll be sent some additional screening tools, which can all be completed in digital format online. You can pause at any time, and you can do that in the comfort of your own home. This enables me to better understand your story and your individual needs before we meet.
Next is your ADHD assessment, which is either online or in the clinic, coming to talk to me face to face. The process does take about two to three hours. That'll give you a chance to hopefully feel relaxed in an environment where you can tell me about the impacts and difficulties and how these have affected you. This follows all NICE guidelines.
In some situations, I may be able to tell you the diagnosis on the same day that we meet. In other scenarios, I might have to perhaps gain some more evidence. You might need to talk to other people, employers, family, partners, school, university, for me to be able to get a really good idea of the evidence, perhaps that you can't see yourself, and might help towards that diagnosis. You'll be provided a diagnostic report, provided I have all of that evidence, within 14 days.

Specialist Neurodevelopmental Practitioner & Independent Prescriber (NISP)
Every NeuroFX medication and titration package is conducted personally by Tina. 15 years of specialist mental health nursing experience and extensive neurodiversity specialist care, having conducted hundreds of ADHD and autism assessments. Tina is also an independent prescriber and an advanced specialist paediatric sleep practitioner. Assessments and prescribing follow NICE NG87 plus BAP guidance for paediatric ADHD pharmacology. She works with both stimulants (lisdexamfetamine, methylphenidate IR and modified-release) and non-stimulants (atomoxetine, guanfacine), chosen based on your clinical picture, not protocol.
For Aberdeen patients in particular, having one clinician end-to-end means no diagnostic hand-offs and no inconsistency between assessment and prescriber. Same person, all the way through.

In Aberdeen, adult ADHD and autism assessment sits with NHS Grampian, the regional health board, rather than any England-style Integrated Care Board. NHS Grampian's Adult Autism Assessment Team, based at Royal Cornhill Hospital, accepts adults (18 and over) registered with a GP in Aberdeen City and Moray, and takes self-referrals as well as referrals from a GP or another person, while access to an ADHD assessment is reached through a GP referral.
Demand is high: the Scottish Government's NAIT Adult Neurodevelopmental Pathways report (data to 31 March 2023) notes the team 'started offering assessments in April 2021' and saw '789 referrals in the first 18 months' (figure for clinician sign-off), and provision has since narrowed, with the Aberdeenshire adult assessment team disbanded in February 2025 according to the Scottish Parliament's SPICe Spotlight (27 June 2025). NeuroFX is a CQC-registered private clinic in Bedford that offers secure online ADHD and autism assessments to adults across Aberdeen, with an assessment typically completed in 6 to 8 weeks; this private route sits alongside NHS Scotland care and never replaces it, so you can stay on any NHS waiting list while arranging a private assessment.
Scotland has no national NHS shared-care policy and 'Right to Choose' is an NHS England policy that does not exist here, so whether an Aberdeen GP enters a shared-care arrangement to continue prescribing after a private assessment and titration remains at the GP's sole discretion; if shared care matters to you, we suggest speaking to your GP before booking. Two things every Aberdeen patient asks about, set out clearly so you can choose your route with full information rather than discovering the catch after you have booked.
In Scotland you access an NHS ADHD or autism assessment through a GP referral to your local NHS Grampian Community Mental Health Team, where it joins the waiting list if accepted. Scotland does not have NHS England's Right to Choose, so you cannot direct an NHS-funded referral to a private provider. A NeuroFX assessment is a separate, privately funded route that runs in parallel, typically completed in 6 to 8 weeks.
Entering a shared-care arrangement after a private assessment and titration is entirely at the individual GP's sole discretion. There is currently no national NHS Scotland shared-care policy; National Autism Implementation Team guidance is clear that a private specialist's recommendation does not by itself entitle a patient to NHS prescriptions. We cannot guarantee any GP will take on prescribing, so if shared care matters to you, speak to your Aberdeen GP before booking. We provide a structured handover designed to make that conversation as easy as possible.
