Hello, I'm Tina. I'm the lead clinician at NeuroFX. At our CQC-registered clinic, we offer specialist autism and ADHD assessments for children aged six and over and adults.
So after booking an assessment with us online or in person, you'll then be invited to take part in the onboarding process, and that is for you to be able to tell your story. It will include physical and mental health history, and then after that, you'll be sent some additional screening tools, which can all be completed in digital format online. You can pause at any time, and you can do that in the comfort of your own home. This enables me to better understand your story and your individual needs before we meet.
Next is your ADHD assessment, which is either online or in the clinic, coming to talk to me face to face. The process does take about two to three hours. That'll give you a chance to hopefully feel relaxed in an environment where you can tell me about the impacts and difficulties and how these have affected you. This follows all NICE guidelines.
In some situations, I may be able to tell you the diagnosis on the same day that we meet. In other scenarios, I might have to perhaps gain some more evidence. You might need to talk to other people, employers, family, partners, school, university, for me to be able to get a really good idea of the evidence, perhaps that you can't see yourself, and might help towards that diagnosis. You'll be provided a diagnostic report, provided I have all of that evidence, within 14 days.

Specialist Neurodevelopmental Practitioner & Independent Prescriber (NISP)
Every NeuroFX medication and titration package is conducted personally by Tina. 15 years of specialist mental health nursing experience and extensive neurodiversity specialist care, having conducted hundreds of ADHD and autism assessments. Tina is also an independent prescriber and an advanced specialist paediatric sleep practitioner. Assessments and prescribing follow NICE NG87 plus BAP guidance for paediatric ADHD pharmacology. She works with both stimulants (lisdexamfetamine, methylphenidate IR and modified-release) and non-stimulants (atomoxetine, guanfacine), chosen based on your clinical picture, not protocol.
For Inverness patients in particular, having one clinician end-to-end means no diagnostic hand-offs and no inconsistency between assessment and prescriber. Same person, all the way through.

You are served by NHS Highland, part of NHS Scotland. A private NeuroFX onboarding is typically 6 to 8 weeks (next available soon), available alongside NHS Scotland care rather than replacing it.
In Inverness, adult ADHD and autism assessment sits with NHS Highland, the regional health board, rather than any England-style Integrated Care Board; adult health and social care across the region is delivered through the Highland Health and Social Care Partnership under a lead-agency arrangement, with NHS Highland the lead agency for adults and Highland Council the lead agency for children. For adults, the access route is a GP referral: NHS Highland's own autism page advises that 'your first steps when looking to assess autism will be with your local GP, who can then refer to other health professionals', and its adult ADHD pathway (NHS Highland Right Decisions guideline, v3, last reviewed 31 July 2025) routes referrals through the Adult Community Mental Health Team and currently focuses resources on those meeting Level 4 (severe) criteria.
Demand across Scotland is high: the Scottish Parliament's SPICe Spotlight (27 June 2025) reports that 'there were 42,350 children waiting for an assessment' and notes Highland was 'among the areas with the longest median waiting times', a useful reason that remote assessment matters across this large rural region. Scotland has no national NHS shared-care policy and 'Right to Choose' is an NHS England policy that does not exist here, so whether a Highland GP enters a shared-care arrangement to continue prescribing after a private assessment and titration remains at the GP's sole discretion; if shared care matters to you, we suggest speaking to your GP before booking. Locally, the Highland One Stop Shop in Inverness (run by Autism Initiatives) and the autistic-led Autistic Rights Group Highland (ARGH Scotland) offer support and advocacy close to home.
Adult ADHD and autism assessment in this area is planned by NHS Highland, part of NHS Scotland. Right to Choose is an NHS England scheme and does not apply here.

Two things every Inverness patient asks about, set out clearly so you can choose your route with full information rather than discovering the catch after you have booked.
In Scotland you access an NHS ADHD or autism assessment through a GP referral to your local NHS Highland Community Mental Health Team, where it joins the waiting list if accepted. Scotland does not have NHS England's Right to Choose, so you cannot direct an NHS-funded referral to a private provider. A NeuroFX assessment is a separate, privately funded route that runs in parallel, typically completed in 6 to 8 weeks.
Entering a shared-care arrangement after a private assessment and titration is entirely at the individual GP's sole discretion. There is currently no national NHS Scotland shared-care policy; National Autism Implementation Team guidance is clear that a private specialist's recommendation does not by itself entitle a patient to NHS prescriptions. We cannot guarantee any GP will take on prescribing, so if shared care matters to you, speak to your Inverness GP before booking. We provide a structured handover designed to make that conversation as easy as possible.
