Read the transcript

Hello, I'm Tina. I'm the lead clinician at NeuroFX. At our CQC-registered clinic, we offer specialist autism and ADHD assessments for children aged six and over and adults.

So after booking an assessment with us online or in person, you'll then be invited to take part in the onboarding process, and that is for you to be able to tell your story. It will include physical and mental health history, and then after that, you'll be sent some additional screening tools, which can all be completed in digital format online. You can pause at any time, and you can do that in the comfort of your own home. This enables me to better understand your story and your individual needs before we meet.

Next is your ADHD assessment, which is either online or in the clinic, coming to talk to me face to face. The process does take about two to three hours. That'll give you a chance to hopefully feel relaxed in an environment where you can tell me about the impacts and difficulties and how these have affected you. This follows all NICE guidelines.

In some situations, I may be able to tell you the diagnosis on the same day that we meet. In other scenarios, I might have to perhaps gain some more evidence. You might need to talk to other people, employers, family, partners, school, university, for me to be able to get a really good idea of the evidence, perhaps that you can't see yourself, and might help towards that diagnosis. You'll be provided a diagnostic report, provided I have all of that evidence, within 14 days.

So wherever you are on your journey, all the information is available on our website. You could book a call to talk to our team. You can book online. You can also simply email us if you have any questions. We do have payment plans available to pay in three or four instalments. So we look forward to meeting you and working with you on your journey.

Your local NHS context

Liverpool ADHD waiting times and your NHS options.

You are served clinically by Cheshire and Merseyside ICB. A private NeuroFX assessment is typically 6 to 8 weeks (next available soon).

NHS access, treatment and local support

If you live in Liverpool, your NHS neurodevelopmental care sits within NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board, which serves a population of over 2.7 million across Cheshire East, Cheshire West, Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Warrington and Wirral, and which (unlike several other boards) was not affected by the 1 April 2026 ICB mergers. Local demand is intense: the ICB reports that spending on adult ADHD services in Cheshire and Merseyside has grown from 11 million pounds in 2023/24 to 38 million pounds in 2025/26, and from 23 December 2025 it introduced a new Adult ADHD commissioning policy and is buying fewer adult assessments, so people already referred stay on the waiting list but may wait longer than before.

The picture for children is similar; Professor Melissa Gladstone of the University of Liverpool's Institute of Life Course and Medical Sciences, co-author of a February 2024 Child of the North analysis, noted that the number of children accessing autism services is at a record high with the majority waiting as long as two or three years for assessments. A January 2025 Healthwatch Liverpool survey of 601 people found that 56 per cent of those waiting for an ADHD assessment had waited over a year, and that 87 per cent received no information or poor information while waiting.

NHS specialist routes remain the mainstay, with adults assessed through Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and children through Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust. A NeuroFX assessment is offered by secure online or remote appointment and sits alongside this NHS care rather than replacing it; for medication, shared care with your GP remains at the GP's sole discretion (the ICB states each GP practice decides for each person whether it can safely offer shared care), so it is sensible to speak to your GP first if ongoing prescribing matters to you.

Local non-clinical support is available while you wait, including the Liverpool-based Brain Charity, the free ADDvanced Solutions Community Network and the parent-led Autism in Motion (AIM) Liverpool, alongside the Liverpool City Council SEND Local Offer.

Right to Choose ADHD in Liverpool.

Two things every Liverpool patient asks about. We've separated them clearly here so you can decide your route with full information, rather than discovering the catch after you have booked.

Right to Choose · NHS-funded

Right to Choose, plainly explained.

Right to Choose is an NHS England policy letting eligible patients choose any NHS-contracted provider for ADHD assessment, including some private providers funded by the NHS. It is not a NeuroFX service.

It exists, has helped people, and has been overwhelmed in turn: published waits at many RTC providers are now measured in years. The ADHD UK tracker is the single best place to compare current RTC provider waits.

If RTC is your priority, check the tracker first. If a fast private route is your priority, that is what NeuroFX is for.
Open the ADHD UK tracker →
Shared care · GP prescribing

Shared care is your GP's decision.

Entering into a shared-care agreement after private titration is entirely at the individual GP's sole discretion, and is also affected by Cheshire and Merseyside ICB policy. We cannot guarantee any GP will take on prescribing responsibility following a private assessment or titration.

If shared care after titration is a priority for you, speak to your Liverpool GP before booking to understand their position. We will provide a structured handover designed to make that conversation as easy as possible.

No surprises. We'd rather lose a booking than have you discover this after you've paid.

About the Liverpool patients we see

In and around Liverpool.

Liverpool is a city of extraordinary cultural and emotional depth, shaped by the sea trade that made it prosperous, the waves of migration that made it cosmopolitan and resilient, and the music and football that gave it a global cultural presence quite unlike any other British city of its size. The Merseyside waterfront -- the Three Graces, the Liver Building, the Museum of Liverpool -- is genuinely one of the great urban waterfronts of the world.

Liverpool's relationship with its own identity is intense, affectionate and sometimes combative, and the community solidarity forged by the particular experience of economic hardship weathered together is felt in the most practical ways.

This page is for Liverpool, Wirral, Sefton, St Helens, Knowsley, Halton, Warrington, Chester and surrounding villages.
