Hello, I'm Tina. I'm the lead clinician at NeuroFX. At our CQC-registered clinic, we offer specialist autism and ADHD assessments for children aged six and over and adults.
So after booking an assessment with us online or in person, you'll then be invited to take part in the onboarding process, and that is for you to be able to tell your story. It will include physical and mental health history, and then after that, you'll be sent some additional screening tools, which can all be completed in digital format online. You can pause at any time, and you can do that in the comfort of your own home. This enables me to better understand your story and your individual needs before we meet.
Next is your ADHD assessment, which is either online or in the clinic, coming to talk to me face to face. The process does take about two to three hours. That'll give you a chance to hopefully feel relaxed in an environment where you can tell me about the impacts and difficulties and how these have affected you. This follows all NICE guidelines.
In some situations, I may be able to tell you the diagnosis on the same day that we meet. In other scenarios, I might have to perhaps gain some more evidence. You might need to talk to other people, employers, family, partners, school, university, for me to be able to get a really good idea of the evidence, perhaps that you can't see yourself, and might help towards that diagnosis. You'll be provided a diagnostic report, provided I have all of that evidence, within 14 days.

Specialist Neurodevelopmental Practitioner & Independent Prescriber (NISP)
Every NeuroFX ADHD assessment is conducted personally by Tina. 15 years of specialist mental health nursing experience and extensive neurodiversity specialist care, having conducted hundreds of ADHD and autism assessments. Tina is also an independent prescriber and an advanced specialist paediatric sleep practitioner. Assessments and prescribing follow NICE NG87 (ADHD diagnosis and management).
For Birmingham patients in particular, having one clinician end-to-end means no diagnostic hand-offs and no inconsistency between assessment and prescriber. Same person, all the way through.
For most Birmingham adults, the short journey to our Bedford clinic is worth it for the in-person experience. Online over secure video is fully available for adults who'd rather not travel; the diagnostic protocol is identical.

If travel isn't realistic, adult assessments can be conducted entirely online via a secure GDPR-compliant video platform. The diagnostic protocol and the fee are identical. Not available for under-18s.

Birmingham sits within NHS Birmingham and Solihull, where neurodevelopmental assessment services are under sustained pressure. Children's autism and ADHD assessments for ages roughly 2.5 to 16 are run by Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust through its Neurodevelopmental Pathway, which is candid that referrals have 'more than doubled since 2022' and that, on its published 'plan for action' (7 November 2024), more than 10,000 children sit within the pathway, around 8,300 of them at the initial triage stage, with the average wait for a first autism assessment around 70 weeks (Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust).
For adults, autism assessment for people aged 16 and over registered with a Birmingham GP is screened by Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and referred to a St Andrews Healthcare community partnership service, with the trust noting that 'waiting times can be long'. As local context, NHS Birmingham and Solihull ICB confirms that NHS providers continue to accept ADHD and autism referrals, although a small number of private NHS Right to Choose providers were asked to pause new referrals until the end of the 2025/26 financial year, and the ICB says it aims to begin reducing waits within six months. Local research adds nuance to the demand picture: a University of Birmingham study led by Professor Ian Apperly, published in JCPP Advances on 6 February 2024, surveyed 1,000 UK adults and noted that it is common to have more than one condition, citing previous research that the prevalence of ADHD among autistic people is around 40 per cent.
A private remote assessment with NeuroFX, a CQC-registered clinic that assesses Birmingham patients by secure online appointment, is intended to sit alongside this NHS provision rather than to replace it; because any move to shared care for medication after a private diagnosis remains at the GP's sole discretion, anyone for whom shared care matters should speak to their GP before booking. While waiting, Birmingham families can also draw on local support such as Local Offer Birmingham, Birmingham SENDIASS and the Birmingham Parent Carer Forum.

Right to Choose is an NHS England policy letting eligible patients choose any NHS-contracted provider for ADHD assessment, including some private providers funded by the NHS. It is not a NeuroFX service.
It exists, has helped people, and has been overwhelmed in turn: published waits at many RTC providers are now measured in years. The ADHD UK tracker is the single best place to compare current RTC provider waits.
Entering into a shared-care agreement after private titration is entirely at the individual GP's sole discretion, and is also affected by Birmingham and Solihull ICB policy. We cannot guarantee any GP will take on prescribing responsibility following a private assessment or titration.
If shared care after titration is a priority for you, speak to your Birmingham GP before booking to understand their position. We will provide a structured handover designed to make that conversation as easy as possible.
