Read the transcript

Hello, I'm Tina. I'm the lead clinician at NeuroFX. At our CQC-registered clinic, we offer specialist autism and ADHD assessments for children aged six and over and adults.

So after booking an assessment with us online or in person, you'll then be invited to take part in the onboarding process, and that is for you to be able to tell your story. It will include physical and mental health history, and then after that, you'll be sent some additional screening tools, which can all be completed in digital format online. You can pause at any time, and you can do that in the comfort of your own home. This enables me to better understand your story and your individual needs before we meet.

Next is your ADHD assessment, which is either online or in the clinic, coming to talk to me face to face. The process does take about two to three hours. That'll give you a chance to hopefully feel relaxed in an environment where you can tell me about the impacts and difficulties and how these have affected you. This follows all NICE guidelines.

In some situations, I may be able to tell you the diagnosis on the same day that we meet. In other scenarios, I might have to perhaps gain some more evidence. You might need to talk to other people, employers, family, partners, school, university, for me to be able to get a really good idea of the evidence, perhaps that you can't see yourself, and might help towards that diagnosis. You'll be provided a diagnostic report, provided I have all of that evidence, within 14 days.

So wherever you are on your journey, all the information is available on our website. You could book a call to talk to our team. You can book online. You can also simply email us if you have any questions. We do have payment plans available to pay in three or four instalments. So we look forward to meeting you and working with you on your journey.

Your local NHS context

Leeds ADHD waiting times and your NHS options.

You are served clinically by West Yorkshire ICB. A private NeuroFX assessment is typically 6 to 8 weeks (next available soon).

What the local data means for patients

Leeds patients are assessed for ADHD and autism through Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and the local NHS picture is candid about the strain on those pathways. The trust's Leeds Adult ADHD Service temporarily closed to non-urgent new referrals from 11 October 2024, with its medical director Dr Chris Hosker quoted in local reporting that, with around 4,500 people then waiting and capacity for roughly 16 assessments a month against about 170 new referrals, anyone joining the list would face a wait of well over 10 years (South Leeds Life, 20 October 2024); the trust's own page now lists an autism assessment wait of about 27 months through the Leeds Autism Diagnostic Service.

Research anchored locally bears this out: a Child of the North report led by Professor Mark Mon-Williams of the University of Leeds (12 September 2025) found that only 4.5 per cent of under-18s with an autism referral were seen within the recommended 13 weeks, with stark regional and demographic gaps. As local NHS context, NHS West Yorkshire ICB continues unchanged in 2026 and, through the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership, has committed to a more consistent Right to Choose and Patient Choice approach for autism and ADHD assessment, with shared decision-making between the individual and their GP on the choice of provider.

A private assessment with a CQC-registered clinic sits alongside this NHS care rather than replacing it, and NeuroFX sees Leeds patients by secure online appointment, typically within 6 to 8 weeks. Any subsequent move to shared care for ADHD medication remains at the GP's sole discretion, so it is worth speaking to your GP first if shared care matters to you.

Families in Leeds also have local support to draw on, including the Leeds Parent Carer Forum, Leeds Autism AIM, the West Yorkshire ADHD charity Stripes and Carers Leeds, all of which help regardless of whether a formal diagnosis is in place.

Right to Choose ADHD in Leeds.

Two things every Leeds patient asks about. We've separated them clearly here so you can decide your route with full information, rather than discovering the catch after you have booked.

Right to Choose · NHS-funded

Right to Choose, plainly explained.

Right to Choose is an NHS England policy letting eligible patients choose any NHS-contracted provider for ADHD assessment, including some private providers funded by the NHS. It is not a NeuroFX service.

It exists, has helped people, and has been overwhelmed in turn: published waits at many RTC providers are now measured in years. The ADHD UK tracker is the single best place to compare current RTC provider waits.

If RTC is your priority, check the tracker first. If a fast private route is your priority, that is what NeuroFX is for.
Open the ADHD UK tracker →
Shared care · GP prescribing

Shared care is your GP's decision.

Entering into a shared-care agreement after private titration is entirely at the individual GP's sole discretion, and is also affected by West Yorkshire ICB policy. We cannot guarantee any GP will take on prescribing responsibility following a private assessment or titration.

If shared care after titration is a priority for you, speak to your Leeds GP before booking to understand their position. We will provide a structured handover designed to make that conversation as easy as possible.

No surprises. We'd rather lose a booking than have you discover this after you've paid.

About the Leeds patients we see

In and around Leeds.

Leeds is the largest city in Yorkshire and one of the fastest-growing city economies in the UK, a place that has made the transition from textile and manufacturing city to a financial, legal, digital and retail centre with considerable confidence. The city centre has been substantially rebuilt since the 1990s, and the canal-side and waterfront areas have a quality that would not look out of place in any major European city.

Yorkshire's characteristic directness and self-reliance runs through Leeds in a way that makes it feel grounded despite its ambitions. The city has strong universities, a vibrant arts and music scene, and a hinterland of North Yorkshire countryside that is extraordinary.

This page is for Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, Wakefield, Huddersfield, York, Selby, Wetherby and surrounding villages.
