Specialist Neurodevelopmental Practitioner & Independent Prescriber (NISP)
Every NeuroFX adult dual ADHD and autism assessment is conducted personally by Tina. 15 years of specialist mental health nursing experience and extensive neurodiversity specialist care, having conducted hundreds of ADHD and autism assessments. Tina is also an independent prescriber and an advanced specialist paediatric sleep practitioner. Assessments and prescribing follow NICE NG87 (ADHD) plus NICE CG142 (autism in adults).
For Peterborough patients in particular, adult dual adhd + autism is multidisciplinary by design. Tina leads your assessment and report; Cheyenne Contreras, NeuroFX's specialist ADOS-2 practitioner, co-conducts the ADOS-2 observation. After the session both clinicians attend the internal MDT case review before your follow-up video call. Meet Cheyenne on the About page →
Peterborough patients are seen in person at our Bedford clinic. This service is in-person only because it requires direct clinical observation or measurement that video cannot replicate.
Bedford Consulting Rooms on Goldington Road is a calm, residential-style space, not a hospital. Pay and display car park immediately next door (1 minute walk). Central rail station 8 minutes walk.
You are served clinically by NHS Central East ICB. A private NeuroFX assessment is typically 6 to 8 weeks (next available soon).
Peterborough sits at the heart of a busy research and clinical region. Anglia Ruskin University, whose purpose-built ARU Peterborough campus opened in the city centre in 2022, has produced work directly relevant to local people, including a study led by Dr Sharon Morein that drew its participants from the Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust adult ADHD clinic and found that almost one in five adults with ADHD showed significant hoarding behaviour.
The scale of local need is large: the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Joint Strategic Needs Assessment estimates around 7,550 people with ADHD and 2,350 autistic people living in Peterborough, and the number of autistic children known to Peterborough schools rose 103 per cent between 2015/16 and 2022/23, reaching 1,064. NHS demand has outpaced capacity across the region; CPFT board papers reported in local press described 9,757 people on the combined ADHD and autism waiting list with a mean wait of 92 weeks, a figure that spans Cambridge, Huntingdon and Peterborough rather than Peterborough alone. The NHS is responding, with a CPFT CAMHS transformation programme and plans for a single front door for referrals reported to councillors in 2026, and Peterborough has already removed the requirement for a parenting programme before a child's neurodevelopmental referral.
From 1 April 2026, the area's NHS commissioning moved to the new NHS Central East Integrated Care Board, a merger of the former Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes, and Hertfordshire boards, although where people are seen has not changed. A private assessment with NeuroFX is not a replacement for that NHS care; it sits alongside it, and where shared care for medication matters to you, that remains the GP's sole discretion, so it is worth speaking to your GP before booking.
Adult ADHD services commissioned via this ICB. Right to Choose is available to some patients in this area.
Figures reflect the trust's own published service page at time of last review. Re-check before relying on it for any decision.
Two things every Peterborough patient asks about. We've separated them clearly here so you can decide your route with full information, rather than discovering the catch after you have booked.
Right to Choose is an NHS England policy letting eligible patients choose any NHS-contracted provider for ADHD assessment, including some private providers funded by the NHS. It is not a NeuroFX service.
It exists, has helped people, and has been overwhelmed in turn: published waits at many RTC providers are now measured in years. The ADHD UK tracker is the single best place to compare current RTC provider waits.
Entering into a shared-care agreement after private titration is entirely at the individual GP's sole discretion, and is also affected by NHS Central East ICB policy. We cannot guarantee any GP will take on prescribing responsibility following a private assessment or titration.
If shared care after titration is a priority for you, speak to your Peterborough GP before booking to understand their position. We will provide a structured handover designed to make that conversation as easy as possible.
Peterborough has been a cathedral city and trading centre since the seventh century, and the cathedral itself -- with its remarkable Norman west front -- is genuinely one of the finest in England, yet manages to feel like a well-kept secret. The city sits at the meeting point of the fens and the limestone uplands, giving it a distinctive flat openness that takes some getting used to and then becomes something you miss.
Peterborough has grown significantly as a commuter hub since the arrival of fast trains to London, and its population is one of the most diverse in the East of England. The Flag Fen Bronze Age site just east of the city is extraordinary and almost entirely unknown outside the archaeology world.

For children and young people in this area, the LEA is Peterborough City Council. Your child's SENCO is the right first call about how a private assessment is used in an EHCP application or annual review.
Our reports are designed to support DSA applications and Equality Act 2010 reasonable-adjustment requests at universities, colleges and employers in the area.

A clear, evidence-based explanation of what ADHD actually is, how it shows up in the brain and daily life, how it is diagnosed in the UK, and what helps.

What an adult or paediatric autism assessment involves: the structure, the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, what the clinician asks about, and what happens after.

Adult ADHD assessment uses rating scales, checklists and a detailed history: what these tools do, what they cannot do, and how diagnosis really works.
