Hello, I'm Tina. I'm the lead clinician at NeuroFX. At our CQC-registered clinic, we offer specialist autism and ADHD assessments for children aged six and over and adults.
So after booking an assessment with us online or in person, you'll then be invited to take part in the onboarding process, and that is for you to be able to tell your story. It will include physical and mental health history, and then after that, you'll be sent some additional screening tools, which can all be completed in digital format online. You can pause at any time, and you can do that in the comfort of your own home. This enables me to better understand your story and your individual needs before we meet.
Next is your ADHD assessment, which is either online or in the clinic, coming to talk to me face to face. The process does take about two to three hours. That'll give you a chance to hopefully feel relaxed in an environment where you can tell me about the impacts and difficulties and how these have affected you. This follows all NICE guidelines.
In some situations, I may be able to tell you the diagnosis on the same day that we meet. In other scenarios, I might have to perhaps gain some more evidence. You might need to talk to other people, employers, family, partners, school, university, for me to be able to get a really good idea of the evidence, perhaps that you can't see yourself, and might help towards that diagnosis. You'll be provided a diagnostic report, provided I have all of that evidence, within 14 days.

Adult ADHD medication is not a one-off prescription. NICE NG87 and the British Association for Psychopharmacology (BAP) consensus describe a structured titration over months. Here is what your six months with NeuroFX look like.

Specialist Neurodevelopmental Practitioner & Independent Prescriber (NISP)
Every NeuroFX medication and titration package is conducted personally by Tina. 15 years of specialist mental health nursing experience and extensive neurodiversity specialist care, having conducted hundreds of ADHD and autism assessments. Tina is also an independent prescriber and an advanced specialist paediatric sleep practitioner. Assessments and prescribing follow NICE NG87 plus British Association for Psychopharmacology (BAP) guidance. She works with both stimulants (lisdexamfetamine, methylphenidate IR and modified-release) and non-stimulants (atomoxetine, guanfacine), chosen based on your clinical picture, not protocol.
For Hertford patients in particular, having one clinician end-to-end means no diagnostic hand-offs and no inconsistency between assessment and prescriber. Same person, all the way through.
For most Hertford adults, the 35 minute journey to our Bedford clinic is worth it for the in-person experience. Online over secure video is fully available for adults who'd rather not travel; the diagnostic protocol is identical.
Bedford Consulting Rooms on Goldington Road is a calm, residential-style space, not a hospital. Pay and display car park immediately next door (1 minute walk). Central rail station 8 minutes walk.
If travel isn't realistic, adult assessments can be conducted entirely online via a secure GDPR-compliant video platform. The diagnostic protocol and the fee are identical. Not available for under-18s.
You are served clinically by NHS Central East ICB. A private NeuroFX onboarding is typically 6 to 8 weeks (next available soon).
Hertford is the county town of Hertfordshire and sits in East Hertfordshire, an area under sustained pressure on neurodevelopmental services. Children here are seen through the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust community paediatrics service, which holds outpatient clinics at Hertford County Hospital, and waits are long: in late 2024 The Comet reported, citing the trust via the Local Democracy Reporting Service, that new referrals were waiting around 67 weeks to see a community paediatrician and a further 45 weeks for an autism or ADHD appointment, and that waits for neurodiversity assessments were in excess of 36 months (The Comet, 20 November and 3 December 2024).
For adults, local GP guidance (Everest House Surgery) explains that NHS referrals for adult ADHD and autism assessment can only be made where there is a complex medical need, with NHS Right to Choose offered as the alternative route. From 1 April 2026 NHS commissioning for the area moved from the former Hertfordshire and West Essex ICB to the new NHS Central East ICB, a merger of the former Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes, and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough boards, though this is an organisational change and where people are seen has not altered.
For someone weighing their options, that can mean staying on an NHS list, exploring NHS Right to Choose, or arranging a private assessment with a CQC-registered clinic, which sits alongside NHS care rather than replacing it. Any move to shared care for medication remains at the GP's sole discretion, so it is worth speaking to your GP first if that matters to you.
Locally there is also support to draw on, from the Hertfordshire-based charities SPACE (in nearby Stanstead Abbots) and ADD-vance, to the parent voice of Herts Parent Carer Involvement, the Hertfordshire SEND Local Offer and the DSPL 3 schools partnership covering Hertford and Ware.

Two things every Hertford patient asks about. We've separated them clearly here so you can decide your route with full information, rather than discovering the catch after you have booked.
Right to Choose is an NHS England policy letting eligible patients choose any NHS-contracted provider for ADHD assessment, including some private providers funded by the NHS. It is not a NeuroFX service.
It exists, has helped people, and has been overwhelmed in turn: published waits at many RTC providers are now measured in years. The ADHD UK tracker is the single best place to compare current RTC provider waits.
Entering into a shared-care agreement after private titration is entirely at the individual GP's sole discretion, and is also affected by NHS Central East ICB policy. We cannot guarantee any GP will take on prescribing responsibility following a private assessment or titration.
If shared care after titration is a priority for you, speak to your Hertford GP before booking to understand their position. We will provide a structured handover designed to make that conversation as easy as possible.
Hertford is the county town of Hertfordshire and has the slightly underplayed quality of county towns that know their own value without needing to make much noise about it. The town sits at the confluence of four rivers -- the Lea, the Mimram, the Beane and the Rib -- which gives it an unusual amount of waterfront character and some excellent riverside walks. Hertford Castle, now the council offices, occupies a site fortified since at least the tenth century.
The town centre has a good mix of independent shops alongside the usual high street names, and the surrounding countryside -- the Mimram Valley particularly -- is beautiful and quietly uncrowded. Hertford has a settled, comfortable quality that people who live there rarely want to leave.
