Read the transcript

Hello, I'm Tina. I'm the lead clinician at NeuroFX. At our CQC-registered clinic, we offer specialist autism and ADHD assessments for children aged six and over and adults.

So after booking an assessment with us online or in person, you'll then be invited to take part in the onboarding process, and that is for you to be able to tell your story. It will include physical and mental health history, and then after that, you'll be sent some additional screening tools, which can all be completed in digital format online. You can pause at any time, and you can do that in the comfort of your own home. This enables me to better understand your story and your individual needs before we meet.

Next is your ADHD assessment, which is either online or in the clinic, coming to talk to me face to face. The process does take about two to three hours. That'll give you a chance to hopefully feel relaxed in an environment where you can tell me about the impacts and difficulties and how these have affected you. This follows all NICE guidelines.

In some situations, I may be able to tell you the diagnosis on the same day that we meet. In other scenarios, I might have to perhaps gain some more evidence. You might need to talk to other people, employers, family, partners, school, university, for me to be able to get a really good idea of the evidence, perhaps that you can't see yourself, and might help towards that diagnosis. You'll be provided a diagnostic report, provided I have all of that evidence, within 14 days.

So wherever you are on your journey, all the information is available on our website. You could book a call to talk to our team. You can book online. You can also simply email us if you have any questions. We do have payment plans available to pay in three or four instalments. So we look forward to meeting you and working with you on your journey.

Your local NHS context

Enfield ADHD waiting times and your NHS options.

You are served clinically by NHS West and North London ICB. A private NeuroFX assessment is typically 6 to 8 weeks (next available soon).

What the local data means for patients

Enfield sits in North Central London, where NHS neurodevelopmental care for children is delivered borough by borough rather than through a single local clinic. Autism assessments for children aged 0 up to their 6th birthday are run by the Neurodiversity Enfield team (Royal Free London) at St Michael's Primary Care Centre, while ADHD and autism assessments for those aged 6 to 18 are carried out by the Enfield CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Team, now part of the North London NHS Foundation Trust (formed on 1 November 2024 from the merger of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust); referrals come from a GP, health visitor or school SENCO, and self-referrals are not accepted.

Demand on the wider system is high: Enfield Council told the Enfield Dispatch in April 2024 that the number of children with Education, Health and Care Plans had doubled in five years and that its SEND service receives about 700 new assessment requests a year, the highest in London, prompting a new 96-place primary school for autistic pupils at Portcullis Lodge in Enfield Town. As local context, NHS North Central London ICB has approved shared care guidelines for adult ADHD medication and points patients to Right to Choose, while making clear that 'GPs are not under obligation to accept shared care and the proposed responsibilities if they are not happy about any aspect of the proposed shared care arrangement'. A private assessment with a CQC-registered clinic sits alongside NHS care rather than replacing it, and at NeuroFX the wait is typically 6 to 8 weeks; NeuroFX sees Enfield patients online and in person at its Bedford clinic, reachable by train.

Any move to shared care for medication remains at the GP's sole discretion, so it is worth speaking to your GP first if shared care matters to you. Families also have local support to draw on while waiting, from OurVoice Enfield (the borough's parent carer forum), the Enfield Advisory Service for Autism and the One-to-One Enfield Autism Hub, none of which require a formal diagnosis.

Right to Choose ADHD in Enfield.

Two things every Enfield patient asks about. We've separated them clearly here so you can decide your route with full information, rather than discovering the catch after you have booked.

Right to Choose · NHS-funded

Right to Choose, plainly explained.

Right to Choose is an NHS England policy letting eligible patients choose any NHS-contracted provider for ADHD assessment, including some private providers funded by the NHS. It is not a NeuroFX service.

It exists, has helped people, and has been overwhelmed in turn: published waits at many RTC providers are now measured in years. The ADHD UK tracker is the single best place to compare current RTC provider waits.

If RTC is your priority, check the tracker first. If a fast private route is your priority, that is what NeuroFX is for.
Open the ADHD UK tracker →
Shared care · GP prescribing

Shared care is your GP's decision.

Entering into a shared-care agreement after private titration is entirely at the individual GP's sole discretion, and is also affected by NHS West and North London ICB policy. We cannot guarantee any GP will take on prescribing responsibility following a private assessment or titration.

If shared care after titration is a priority for you, speak to your Enfield GP before booking to understand their position. We will provide a structured handover designed to make that conversation as easy as possible.

No surprises. We'd rather lose a booking than have you discover this after you've paid.

About the Enfield patients we see

In and around Enfield.

Enfield is a North London borough at the edge of the Lea Valley, a place of genuine variety that stretches from the affluent streets of Winchmore Hill and Palmers Green through the market town character of Enfield Town itself to the more industrial and diverse communities of Edmonton and Ponders End. The Lea Valley Regional Park, running along the eastern boundary of the borough, is one of London's great outdoor assets -- a chain of reservoirs, wetlands and green corridors that supports excellent birdlife and a remarkable amount of recreational space for a metropolitan area.

Enfield's historic town centre has a market town character that predates London's absorption of it by several centuries.

This page is for Enfield, Barnet, Walthamstow, Cheshunt, Hertford, Waltham Abbey, Potters Bar and surrounding villages.
