Read the transcript

Hello, I'm Tina. I'm the lead clinician at NeuroFX. At our CQC-registered clinic, we offer specialist autism and ADHD assessments for children aged six and over and adults.

So after booking an assessment with us online or in person, you'll then be invited to take part in the onboarding process, and that is for you to be able to tell your story. It will include physical and mental health history, and then after that, you'll be sent some additional screening tools, which can all be completed in digital format online. You can pause at any time, and you can do that in the comfort of your own home. This enables me to better understand your story and your individual needs before we meet.

Next is your ADHD assessment, which is either online or in the clinic, coming to talk to me face to face. The process does take about two to three hours. That'll give you a chance to hopefully feel relaxed in an environment where you can tell me about the impacts and difficulties and how these have affected you. This follows all NICE guidelines.

In some situations, I may be able to tell you the diagnosis on the same day that we meet. In other scenarios, I might have to perhaps gain some more evidence. You might need to talk to other people, employers, family, partners, school, university, for me to be able to get a really good idea of the evidence, perhaps that you can't see yourself, and might help towards that diagnosis. You'll be provided a diagnostic report, provided I have all of that evidence, within 14 days.

So wherever you are on your journey, all the information is available on our website. You could book a call to talk to our team. You can book online. You can also simply email us if you have any questions. We do have payment plans available to pay in three or four instalments. So we look forward to meeting you and working with you on your journey.

Your local NHS context

Barnet ADHD waiting times and your NHS options.

You are served clinically by NHS West and North London ICB. A private NeuroFX assessment is typically 6 to 8 weeks (next available soon).

Local NHS context and support

Barnet is a large North London borough whose children and young people are assessed for ADHD and autism through the Barnet Neurodevelopmental Service, with referrals routed via the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey CAMHS Single Point of Access; that service is candid that, at present, the wait for an ADHD assessment can range between one and two years, and roughly ten months more for medication after diagnosis (Barnet Neurodevelopmental Service, fetched May 2026). The pressure on the wider SEND system is reflected in local reporting: the Barnet Post (Maya Sall, 22 February 2026) noted that 4,906 children, about 3.40 per cent of under-25s, now have an Education, Health and Care Plan in Barnet, a figure that has risen 49 per cent between 2020 and 2024 and is forecast to reach 5,500 by 2028. As local NHS context, NHS North Central London ICB, which commissioned Barnet, was abolished on 31 March 2026 and from 1 April 2026 merged with NHS North West London ICB into the new NHS West and North London Integrated Care Board, although day-to-day services have not changed.

For adults, the North Central London neurodevelopmental pathway runs an ADHD Service for Adults covering Barnet, Enfield and Haringey, and NICE-recommended shared care for medication can follow titration, though GPs are not obliged to accept it. A private assessment with a CQC-registered clinic sits alongside NHS care rather than replacing it, and at NeuroFX the wait is typically 6 to 8 weeks; NeuroFX sees Barnet patients online and in person at its Bedford clinic, which is reachable by train.

Any subsequent move to shared care for medication remains at the GP's sole discretion, so it is worth speaking to your GP first if shared care matters to you. Families in Barnet also have local support to draw on, from the Barnet Parent Carer Forum and Barnet Mencap to the council's Local Offer, all of which help regardless of whether a formal diagnosis is in place.

Right to Choose ADHD in Barnet.

Two things every Barnet patient asks about. We've separated them clearly here so you can decide your route with full information, rather than discovering the catch after you have booked.

Right to Choose · NHS-funded

Right to Choose, plainly explained.

Right to Choose is an NHS England policy letting eligible patients choose any NHS-contracted provider for ADHD assessment, including some private providers funded by the NHS. It is not a NeuroFX service.

It exists, has helped people, and has been overwhelmed in turn: published waits at many RTC providers are now measured in years. The ADHD UK tracker is the single best place to compare current RTC provider waits.

If RTC is your priority, check the tracker first. If a fast private route is your priority, that is what NeuroFX is for.

Shared care · GP prescribing

Shared care is your GP's decision.

Entering into a shared-care agreement after private titration is entirely at the individual GP's sole discretion, and is also affected by NHS West and North London ICB policy. We cannot guarantee any GP will take on prescribing responsibility following a private assessment or titration.

If shared care after titration is a priority for you, speak to your Barnet GP before booking to understand their position. We will provide a structured handover designed to make that conversation as easy as possible.

No surprises. We'd rather lose a booking than have you discover this after you've paid.

About the Barnet patients we see

In and around Barnet.

Barnet is a North London borough with a name that covers enormous variety -- from the prosperous leafy streets of East Barnet and Totteridge, through the busy commercial High Barnet at the top of the Northern line, to New Barnet with its more mixed, community-centred character. The Battle of Barnet in 1471, a key engagement of the Wars of the Roses fought in fields north of the town, is commemorated with understated modesty by a stone obelisk in a field that most passing drivers never notice.

Barnet has good green space -- Hadley Common marks the very edge of London before the green belt begins in earnest -- and a sense of being the last London before the countryside starts.

This page is for Barnet, Enfield, Walthamstow, Finchley, East Barnet, New Barnet, Cockfosters, Potters Bar and surrounding villages.
