Our fees, and the medication, are two separate things.
The fees shown across this site (the six‑month treatment package, the onboarding review, repeat prescribing and reviews) pay for clinical time: prescribing, titration and monitoring with Tina. They do not include the medication itself, which you collect from a pharmacy and pay for separately.
This page explains exactly what that pharmacy cost is on a private prescription, and lists the indicative private price of each ADHD medication so there are no surprises.
Clinical package £995. Medication paid separately at the pharmacy.
During titration NeuroFX issues a private prescription. You pay the pharmacy a private dispensing fee, typically £10 to £20 per item, plus the cost of the drug itself. If your GP agrees to shared care once you are stable, routine prescribing moves to the NHS and the standard NHS prescription charge applies instead.
What you actually pay for medication.
There are two different situations, and the cost works differently in each.
While you are with NeuroFX (private prescription)
During titration and treatment, NeuroFX prescribes privately. On a private prescription your pharmacy charges:
- a private dispensing fee, typically £10 to £20 per item; plus
- the cost of the medication itself, which depends on the drug, the strength and the pharmacy you use. Indicative private prices per box are listed below.
A private prescription is not the same as the NHS prescription charge. You are paying the pharmacy for the medicine plus their dispensing service.
If your GP agrees to shared care (NHS prescription)
Once you are stable, your GP may agree to shared care and take over routine prescribing on the NHS. If they do, you then pay the standard NHS prescription charge per item, with the usual NHS exemptions (for example for under‑18s, or with a prepayment certificate). The current NHS charge is published on the NHS website.
Indicative private medication prices.
These figures are a guide to the private price per box for the ADHD medications we most often prescribe. Actual prices vary between pharmacies and change over time, so treat them as indicative rather than a quote. Each medication links to an independent, plain‑English information page from Choice and Medication.
Methylphenidate
A stimulant and the usual first‑line choice for most people under NICE NG87. It works quickly and is very well studied. It comes as several modified‑release brands that release the dose differently across the day; brands are not always interchangeable, so the price depends on the specific brand and strength.

Lisdexamfetamine
A long‑acting stimulant taken once a day. It is a prodrug, converted to dexamfetamine in the body, which gives a smooth, full‑day effect. It is often used when methylphenidate does not suit.

Guanfacine
A non‑stimulant used mainly for children and young people, including where tics or sleep are a concern. The private price depends on strength and is confirmed at the point of prescribing.

Shared care and your GP.
Most people who stay on ADHD medication long term would prefer it on the NHS. The route to that is shared care: NeuroFX makes the diagnosis and stabilises your medication, then your NHS GP takes over routine prescribing under a written agreement, and the standard NHS prescription charge applies from then on.
Whether to enter a shared‑care agreement is entirely your GP's decision, at their sole discretion, and is also shaped by local ICB policy. We cannot guarantee any GP will take it on. If shared care matters to you, speak to your GP before booking. Either way, we provide a structured handover designed to make that conversation as straightforward as possible.
